About the Opportunity

Knutson Construction is seeking a strategic and results-driven Director, Power Market Sector to lead the growth and expansion of its power generation construction portfolio. This senior leadership role is responsible for developing market strategies, building executive-level client relationships, driving business development efforts, and positioning Knutson as a trusted partner for complex power generation projects. The position focuses on co-generation, single-cycle, combined-cycle, and utility-support facility projects while collaborating with internal teams to deliver safe, innovative, and high-quality construction solutions.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute long-term strategic plans for the Power Market Sector.
Lead business development, revenue growth, and market expansion initiatives.
Build and maintain relationships with utilities, independent power producers, EPC firms, developers, and key stakeholders.
Manage project pursuit strategies, pipeline forecasting, and proposal development.
Serve as the internal subject matter expert on power generation facilities and industry trends.
Collaborate with operations and preconstruction teams to develop repeatable project delivery approaches.
Mentor and support business development, operations, and preconstruction staff.
Represent Knutson at industry events, conferences, and client meetings.
Promote and uphold Knutson’s Zero Incident Safety Culture.
Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and organizational growth.
Qualifications & Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred).
10+ years of progressive leadership experience in construction, EPC, utility, or power sectors.
Experience in business development, strategic planning, and team leadership.
Strong understanding of construction operations, preconstruction, scheduling, cost management, and risk management.
Knowledge of power generation facilities, utility infrastructure, and regulatory requirements.
Proven ability to build executive-level client relationships and drive market growth.
Strong financial, analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
Experience with CRM and business intelligence tools.
Ability to travel up to 50% regionally and nationally.
