Overview

Volunteers are matched with individuals who share similar interests for regular weekly social visits or outings. The program supports people who may feel isolated or lonely, aiming to develop genuine ongoing friendships through these visits. Activities can include chatting over a cup of tea, shared hobbies, walking, or enjoying a local cuppa.

ACVVS volunteers help improve quality of life by providing companionship and restoring a sense of social connection. The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme supports elderly people living in government‑funded aged care homes or in their own home and receiving home care packages. Requirements

• Be over the age of 18 years.
• Have time to commit to weekly or fortnightly visits for a minimum of 12 months.
• Be willing to undergo a screening process (interview and reference checks).
• Undergo a Police Check and sign a Statutory Declaration if necessary.
