About the Role

The Catering Assistant and Kitchenhand play a vital role in supporting the overall well‑being of residents by contributing to their dining experiences. They help create a welcoming atmosphere during mealtimes and work diligently to ensure that residents receive nourishing and enjoyable meals tailored to their individual needs.

Shift Times

Monday to Sunday: 7 am – 1:30 pm and 4 pm – 7 pm. Permanent shifts currently available are Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities

• Meal Preparation – assist in chopping vegetables, assembling salads, portioning food and preparing simple dishes under the supervision of the Cook or Chef.
• Serving Meals – help serve meals to residents during mealtimes, ensuring each resident receives the appropriate meal according to their dietary requirements.
• Dining Room Setup – set up the dining areas before mealtimes, ensuring tables are clean and all necessary items such as cutlery, plates and glasses are in place.
• Dishwashing and Cleaning – wash dishes, utensils and kitchen equipment, and maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen and dining area. May also help clean kitchen surfaces and storage areas.
• Resident Interaction – interact with residents in a friendly and courteous manner during mealtimes, addressing their needs and requests as appropriate.

Ideal Candidates

• Experience in hospitality, aged care, customer service or hospital environment and/or related field.
• Food Handling Certificate desirable but not essential.
• Experience with specific dietary needs desirable.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team within a fast‑paced environment.
• Genuine passion for providing quality care to older Australians.
• Full working rights in Australia.
