Disability Support Worker- Supported Independent Living

As Brighter Access continues to expand it’s services in Tamworth, we are looking for experienced staff to join our team. We will be offering Part-Time & casual contracts to staff.

Ideally you will be experienced in disability support work, but we are also encouraging people who have lived experience providing support or those that are looking for a career change into a role that is rewarding and fulfilling to apply. Similarly, allied health students are encouraged to apply.

Experienced Assistants in Nursing that are looking for a change of pace where you will be able to enjoy quality time supporting our participants, are also strongly encourage to apply.

Our new participants will require high levels of physical support so we are seeking applications from people with experience with transfers, hoisting and high levels of personal care. Supporting these new participants will involve active nights so your ability to work across a 24 hour, 7 day roster would be an advantage.

Essential Criteria

  • Current Driver’s Licence and own insured motor vehicle
  • First Aid Certificate including CPR
  • Working with Children Check for paid employment
  • Willing to obtain and be eligible for NDIS worker clearance
  • Willingness to work across all Brighter Access’ services and with a variety of Participants.
  • Commitment to inclusion & disability service standards arerequired.

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous experience working in the industry or a passion to learn how to support people with a disability
  • Experience in manual handling, hoist transfers, providing personal care, medication assistance and dealing with complexbehaviours
  • Demonstrated ability to use basic technology and software on a mobile and desktop
