Finance Project Manager – Brisbane, QLD, AU

Report to the Lead FPM and work alongside a high‑performing team in our QNGR project. Play a critical role in enabling business performance through financial insight, partnering closely with the Project Manager and cross‑functional teams to drive informed decision‑making and ensure project success across Quality, Cost and Delivery.
Responsibilities
- Finance Business Partner to the project manager and support decision making, ensuring functions are held accountable for Quality, Time & Cost.
- Lead, coach and manage a local Finance team.
- Provide reliable financial analysis to assist in decision‑making (Explain, justify and keep records in detail).
- Control the financial performance of the project, add insight and accuracy to project financial information and raise early warnings when necessary.
- Jointly prepare with the project team the project reviews content and reassess each semester the profitability, TOC, cash flow, R&O.
- Ensure full compliance with Alstom internal control and finance processes.
- Ensure the project working capital is under strict monitoring and participate in actions to reduce working capital.
- Manage and analyse costs, revenue and profitability and drive the contract and claim management towards customer, partners and suppliers.
- Maintain full visibility of Cost‑To‑Go at any time of the contract phase to ensure reliable reporting internally and to the alliance.
- Participate in cash initiatives by owning modelling works.
Qualifications
- University degree in Finance, Commerce, Business Administration or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience in financial leadership roles within complex project environments – preferably in rail, infrastructure or engineering sectors.
- Proven track record in managing finances for medium‑criticality, high‑value projects with significant risk exposure.
- Strong knowledge of SAP, Excel and project financial tools; deep understanding of international accounting standards (IFRS).
- Experience in a multinational organisation with exposure to cross‑functional and cross‑border project operations.
- Advanced skills in negotiation, stakeholder management and financial communication – with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Organised, analytical and proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and business impact.
- High attention to detail and strong commitment to compliance, ethics and Alstom’s core values.
