GradBay

A global infrastructure and engineering consultancy is hiring Graduate Geotechnical / Engineering Geology Engineers to join its fast-growing Ground Engineering team working across some of the UK and Europe’s most critical infrastructure projects.

You’ll be involved in real projects from day one across energy, rail, water, highways, nuclear, ports and commercial developments, supporting everything from ground investigations and geological modelling to geotechnical design and site supervision.

This is a career-defining opportunity to build deep technical expertise while working on nationally significant programmes.

Key Criteria (what actually matters)

We’re looking for early-career engineers or graduates who meet most of the following:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, Engineering Geology or Geotechnical Engineering (2:1 or above)
  • MSc or MEng in Geotechnical Engineering, Soil Mechanics or Engineering Geology is a plus
  • Interest in ground engineering, geotechnics, geology or infrastructure projects
  • Comfortable using Excel and Word; AutoCAD or Civil 3D is an advantage
  • Willing to work on site and travel when required
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Curious, proactive and keen to build a long-term engineering career
  • Eligible to work in the UK

Previous site or geotechnical experience is helpful but not essential.

What you’ll be doing

You will work alongside senior engineers and geologists on live projects, including:

  • Ground investigations, desk studies and site inspections
  • Geological interpretation and ground model development
  • Geotechnical analysis for foundations, retaining walls, slopes and earthworks
  • Design and reporting using industry-standard software
  • Supervision of site works and contractor activities
  • 3D geological modelling and digital ground data management

You’ll be trained on specialist software used across major infrastructure projects and supported towards professional chartership.

Why this role is different

This is not a paper-based graduate job.

You’ll be working on real national and international infrastructure programmes in:

  • Energy and power
  • Water and flood defence
  • Rail and highways
  • Nuclear and decommissioning
  • Ports, harbours and major developments

You’ll also be part of a structured graduate development programme combined with technical geotechnical training, designed to fast-track your professional growth.

What you get

  • Structured 2-year Graduate Development Programme
  • Specialist geotechnical training academy
  • Support towards ICE, IOM3 or Geological Society chartership
  • Hybrid working and exposure to major infrastructure programmes
  • Long-term career progression in a global engineering organisation
