Role : Data Solutions Engineer

Location: Remote

Duration : Till end of March 2027 – High possibility of Extension

Pay : CAD $70 /Hour

Start date : Immediate

Must be a resident of Canada and Eligible to work*

Overview /Objective:

The Data Solutions Architecture team is the connective tissue between business problems and production data systems. We don’t operate the stack – we design the solutions that span it. As a Data Solutions Engineer, you’ll translate ambiguous, cross-functional problems into well-architected data solutions built on AWS. These solutions help ensure that our partners can integrate fluidly with our data ecosystem, supporting both operational and analytical data flows. This role will focus on solution design and deployment, with a clear handoff model for operational support.

Responsibilities:

  • Discovery and Design

o Work directly with Fan Engagement, Marketing Ops, Analytics, Privacy, Legal, and a variety of other stakeholders to clarify business problems and map them to solutions

o Produce clear design artifacts (data models, pipelines schemas, data contracts, sequence diagrams, and runbooks)

o Embed privacy-by-design principles (consent management, PII classification, data residency, auditability) into every solution

o Lead POCs and vendor evaluations

  • Build & Integrate

o Develop data models, tests, exposures, and packages with dbt maintaining clear lineage and documentation

o Build and optimize AWS data pipelines using services such as S3, Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge, and Kinesis

o Design Redshift solutions with attention to distribution/sort keys, RA3 sizing, workload management, and cost performance

o Build integration patterns between the data ecosystem and cross-functional platforms (martech, activation, personalization) without owning those platforms directly

  • Handoff & Enablement

o Establish CI/CD/ IaC (Terraform/CDK), testing strategies, and observability standards that operational pods can take over

o Write runbooks, define SLOs/SLAs, and build monitoring suited to game-day operational sensitivity

o Mentor engineers by contributing reusable modules and reference architectures that raise the standard across the team

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s (preferred) degree in a quantitative or technical field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering and analytics on modern data platforms
  • 3+ years’ extensive experience with DBT or similar data transformation tools, including building complex & maintainable DBT models and developing DBT packages/macros
  • Deep familiarity with dimensional modeling/data warehousing concepts and expertise in designing, implementing, operating, and extending enterprise dimensional models
  • Understand change data capture concepts
  • Experience working with AWS Services (Lambda, Step Functions, MWAA, Glue, Redshift)
  • Hands-on experience with AWS CDK, CodeCommit, and CodePipeline for infrastructure automation and CI/CD
  • Python proficiency or general knowledge of Jinja templating in Python and/or PySpark
  • Agile experience and willingness to work with extended offshore teams and assist with design and code reviews with customer
  • Familiarity with OneTrust or similar consent management platforms is a plus.
  • A great teammate and self-starter, strong detail orientation is critical in this role.
