Safety, Security and Emergency Management Coordinator – Custodial Youth Justice – 513587

Department: Department for Education, Children and Young People – Child Safety & Youth Justice Operations – Care Custodial & Support Services

Location: Ashley Youth Detention Centre, North, near Deloraine, Tasmania

Employment type: Fixed‑term, full‑time

Classification: Health and Human Services Tasmanian State Service Award – General Stream Band 6

Salary: $111,754 – $126,579 per annum

Key responsibilities:

• Oversee the farm and fleet facilities at the Youth Detention Centre.
• Coordinate work health and safety, emergency management, and security systems.
• Ensure a safe and secure environment for staff, residents, and visitors.
• Implement and maintain emergency response plans and security protocols.
• Work with the Centre’s management team to support safety culture.

Qualifications and experience:

• Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP) in an Employment status.
• Proven experience in safety, security, or emergency management within a custodial or similar environment.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and emergency procedures.
• Effective communication and leadership skills.
